How to read a funnel builder pricing page in 2026

The monthly sticker is the least useful number on a funnel builder pricing page. Here is how to read contact caps, domain limits, transaction fees, trials and add-ons on ClickFunnels, systeme.io, GoHighLevel and Kartra.

How to read a funnel builder pricing page in 2026

Funnel builder pricing pages are designed to be skimmed, not read. The headline number is rarely what a growing business ends up paying. The contact cap, the domain count, the transaction fee and the annual-only discount decide the real bill. This guide walks through the pricing pages of ClickFunnels, systeme.io, GoHighLevel and Kartra, checked in October 2026, and shows which rows matter on each one. Every figure below comes from the vendor's own page on that date. Where a page did not state a number, the article says so instead of guessing. Prices and limits change often, so treat this as a reading method rather than a permanent price list.

Start with the contact cap, not the monthly price

ClickFunnels Launch costs $97 per month, or $81 billed annually, and caps email contacts at 10,000, per its pricing page as of October 2026. Scale lifts that to 75,000 contacts for $197. The contact row, not the funnel row, pushes most accounts up a tier.

Kartra sets tighter caps: 500 contacts on Essentials ($59), 2,500 on Starter ($119), 12,500 on Growth ($229) and 25,000 on Professional ($549), as of October 2026. Its page says lead limits are never enforced; crossing one triggers an automatic upgrade plus a mid-cycle reconciliation fee.

systeme.io runs the other way. Its Free plan allows 2,000 contacts, Startup ($17) allows 5,000, Webinar ($47) allows 10,000 and Unlimited ($97) removes the cap, per the pricing FAQ. GoHighLevel states unlimited contacts on every plan because it bills agencies by sub-account instead.

A quick editorial calculation from those published figures: divide the monthly price by the contact cap. ClickFunnels Launch works out to roughly $9.70 per 1,000 contacts, Kartra Essentials to about $118, and systeme.io Startup to about $3.40. None of the vendors frames pricing this way.

Check whether "unlimited funnels" hides a smaller limit

All four vendors advertise unlimited funnels or pages on paid tiers. ClickFunnels lists unlimited funnels, site pages and landing pages on every plan. systeme.io's Free plan is the exception at 3 sales funnels; Startup moves to unlimited, per the FAQ.

The limit usually moves somewhere else. On ClickFunnels it becomes brand workspaces (1 on Launch, 5 on Scale, 10 on Optimize) and courses (3, 6 and 10). On Kartra Essentials it is 5 pages and 1 product, closer to a sandbox than a business plan.

Read the "pages" and "products" rows even when the headline says unlimited. A funnel with a sales page, order form, upsell and thank-you page is four pages. Five pages total means one funnel and one spare.

Count custom domains before you count funnels

Domain limits are where multi-brand operators get caught. Kartra allows 1 custom domain on Essentials and Starter, 3 on Growth and 5 on Professional, and its page states that the only way to add domains is to upgrade. There is no domain add-on.

ClickFunnels includes 5 custom domains on Launch and unlimited from Scale up. systeme.io's Free plan includes 1 custom domain; its comparison table did not load paid-tier counts when checked in October 2026. GoHighLevel's FAQ says domains connect to all funnels and websites, no count stated.

For client work, the domain row matters more than the price row. An agency with 8 client brands cannot fit on any Kartra tier, including Professional at 5 domains, without splitting accounts.

Find the transaction fee line, because it is rarely in the headline

Kartra Essentials charges a 5% transaction fee on sales, per its comparison section; Starter and Growth state 0%. On $5,000 in monthly sales, that 5% is $250, more than four times the plan's $59 price. The cheapest tier can be the most expensive one.

systeme.io states "0% transaction fees on all plans," including Free. ClickFunnels answers the percentage-of-sales question in its FAQ with "No. You'll keep every penny you make." Stripe or PayPal processor fees still apply on all four platforms and appear on none of these pages.

GoHighLevel has no transaction fee but does have usage billing. Phone, SMS, email and premium AI are metered and billed separately, per its pricing footnotes, and the page notes that usage fees may apply even during the 14-day trial.

Separate the free plan from the free trial

Only systeme.io offers a genuinely free plan. It requires no credit card, never expires, and includes 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 blog, 1 course, 1 affiliate program and unlimited email sends, as of October 2026.

The other three sell trials. ClickFunnels offers 14 days plus a 30-day money-back guarantee, which its page frames as 44 risk-free days. GoHighLevel and Kartra each list a 14-day trial. GoHighLevel's page states that billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless canceled.

A trial tests the software. A free plan tests the business. If the open question is whether a funnel will convert at all, a 14-day clock is tight, while systeme.io's free tier lets a launch run for months before any charge.

Do the annual math yourself, since vendors round it their way

  • ClickFunnels: Launch $97 monthly or $81 per month annually, labeled "Save $194/year" on the page (about 17% by editorial math). Scale is $197 versus $164, Optimize $297 versus $248. Dominate is annual only at $5,997 per year.
  • Kartra: Essentials $59 versus $52 annually, Starter $119 versus $99, Growth $229 versus $189, Professional $549 versus $429. The Professional gap is the widest at about 22%.
  • GoHighLevel: Starter $97 monthly or $970 per year, Unlimited $297 or $2,970, Agency Pro $497 or $4,970. That is exactly two months free on every tier.
  • systeme.io: the page promises "2 months free" on annual billing but shows no annual dollar figures. Assume 10 times the monthly price, then confirm in checkout before paying.

Two warnings apply to all four. An annual plan locks the contact cap for twelve months; if the list doubles in month four, the upgrade is billed on top. And a money-back window such as ClickFunnels' 30 days covers the first month, not the year.

Price the add-ons that the comparison table leaves out

GoHighLevel's add-on list is the longest of the four. As of October 2026 it includes AI Employee at $50 or $97 per sub-account, a branded client portal at $49, dedicated email IPs at $59 each, HIPAA compliance at $297 and a white-label app at $497.

Premium support is listed at $500 per month, WordPress hosting from $10 per site, and a WhatsApp integration at $10 per sub-account. None of these appear in the three plan cards at the top of the page.

Several of those are billed per sub-account. An agency on the $297 Unlimited plan with 10 clients on the AI Employee Growth add-on pays $500 in add-ons before any telecom usage. The headline tier is a floor, not a ceiling.

ClickFunnels states that its apps are "included for free in every plan" and lists no add-ons. Kartra says plans are flat-rate with no add-ons. systeme.io lists none, and its Unlimited tier bundles a free migration service that the FAQ limits to that plan.

Bottom line

Read a funnel builder's pricing page in this order: contact cap, domain count, transaction fee, free plan versus trial, annual terms, add-ons. The monthly sticker comes last. Kartra Essentials at $59 looks cheap until the 5% fee and 500-contact cap are priced in.

Pick the tier by the number that will break first for your business, usually contacts or domains, not by the cheapest card on the page. Then confirm every figure on the vendor's own page before paying, because pricing pages change without notice.

Frequently asked questions

Which funnel builder has a real free plan in 2026?

systeme.io is the only one of the four with a no-card, non-expiring free plan: 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course and 1 custom domain as of October 2026. ClickFunnels, GoHighLevel and Kartra offer 14-day trials instead, and GoHighLevel bills automatically when the trial ends.

Do funnel builders charge a percentage of sales?

Kartra's Essentials plan charges 5%, while its Starter and Growth tiers state 0%. systeme.io states 0% on all plans, and ClickFunnels says it takes no percentage of sales. Payment processors such as Stripe still charge their own fees separately on every platform.

Is annual billing worth it for a funnel builder?

GoHighLevel and systeme.io frame annual billing as two months free. ClickFunnels and Kartra discount between roughly 16% and 22% depending on tier, by editorial calculation from their October 2026 pages. It pays off only if your contact count stays inside the tier for the full year.
